I just read an article about a boutique hotel that experimented with adding local art in it's rooms. The results were pretty amazing.

🏨 Hotel XYZ may sound fictional—but it’s real! This hotel hosted a study by adding the artwork of local artists throughout its rooms and even holding exhibitions of what they curated.

The result? Customer satisfaction soared, leading to more business for the hotel. Travelers loved how the art made them feel more connected, not just to the hotel, but to the local area. 🌍

It’s a perfect example of how celebrating independent artists can elevate a space and make it truly special. Art has the power to transform, and this study proves it!

These sweet kids would be a whimsical addition to any room. The bright complementary colors are cheery and warm. Since a realistic interpretation wasn't my goal with this piece, I didn't use a brush for any part of this painting. All the marks were created with my palette knife. From the broad flat swipes to the thin, wispy flicks - this combination of textures helps capture the playfulness of the goats. Texture, coupled with the use of bright, saturated colors help tell their quirky story.

I Choose Positivity, is a mixed-media painting. Acrylic paint was used to create a lot of texture and thick palette knife work in this piece. I love the carving I was able to get out of the paint and the delicate charcoal marks that peek through some of the texture. The sunny yellow hues and muddy greens give this painting a very earthy vibe, and the luminous pinks add just the right punch of interest.

The Collection:

I Choose Positivity is part of the Affirmations Collection, which is a colorful and inspiring series. You will see each painting is full of wild and loose marks coupled with thick paint swatches. All of the paintings in this collection are carefully constructed with deliberate mark-making to create interest and depth. Every time you look at one of these paintings new layers and marks you never noticed before will reveal themselves to you. The finished pieces leave you with a whimsical and warm feeling, and when you couple that with the powerful title, they make you want to start making your daydreams your reality.

You may be wondering, why Affirmations? Well, Affirmations are a powerful yet simple tool you can use to shift your inner dialogue toward thoughts that support how you wish to grow. Waiting is an oil painting of a lone turkey vulture staring emptily into the deep yellows of the midwestern sunset, creating a balance of loneliness and warmth. The marks in this painting were created with a palette knife, so you will see lots of texture and movement. The colors are bold and saturated.

Sometimes paintings are created for no particular reason other than it felt right in the moment. This piece was created intuitively without much of a plan beforehand. That's not typically how I work, but it fell together so easily, it was like it needed to be created.
