My Story šŸ¤

My Story šŸ¤

Hey there! I’m Sarah, a mixed-media artist from the Midwest, that had a dream and kept chasing it. Funny enough, my most popular print is even called ā€˜I Am a Dream Chaser’!

Like everyone, there are many facets to my story, but what I want to share with you here, is this…

Blinking and breathing are the only things I’ve done longer than teaching art. Okay, maybe that’s a little stretch of the truth, but not much!

When I was 14 I started working part-time after school at a local art studio. They needed someone to help with a class of 4 to 6 year olds. I took the job, and never looked back. Over the next 20+ years, I went on to teach thousands of students, ranging in age from 4 to 94 before the studio permanently closed its doors in 2021 due to the global pandemic.

The studio’s closing left a massive void in my life and forced me out of my comfort zone. I had to figure out how to live a creative life for myself and what that meant to me.

Weaving Creativity Into Daily Life

Tapping into my creativity has given me clarity and confidence; my hope is that what I share with you on this site incites you to weave more creativity into your life. When you leave here, I hope you feel inspired and ready to pick up a paintbrush or go on a nature walk with your kids and hunt for mark-making tools.

Living a creative life is doable, even for the busiest mommas. Little shifts can make big changes. I know because I’ve done it and you can do it too! I’ve learned so much on my artistic journey, and I’m super excited to be able to share it all with you!

On this site, you’ll find fine art tutorials, tips and tricks, simple crafts, and ways to get creative with your kids.

These days, when I’m not working in the studio or dreaming up new ideas, you’ll probably find me exploring the city with my boys, hunting for vintage treasure, or curled up with my dog watching Gilmore Girls.

I hope you’ll join me as I follow my passion and create a beautifully messy, and creative life for my family and me.

Creativity awaits!

One day, my studio table was scattered with paints, brushes, a little heart rock my son and I painted, and a rogue ball of yarn (no idea why). It felt like a portrait of my creative life — so I turned it into one.
